Sanitization Services Baltimore, MD

Home & Business Sanitization Company Baltimore, MD

COVID-19 isn’t the only reason your home may need to be sanitized. There are lots of other bacteria, viruses, and unsanitary items that may make their way into your home on a daily basis. If you want to protect your family and your home from these unhealthy situations.

Call Green Clean Restoration today for a FREE estimate on a full sanitization service.

Here are some situations that mean you should have your home sanitized:

  • Mold
  • Sick family members (COVID-19 or another virus)
  • Dirty surfaces
  • Home renovations or reconstructions
  • Damage

If any of these has happened in your home recently, then you should think about hiring a professional sanitization company like Green Clean Restoration. We know exactly how to tackle each of these situations and how to sanitize your home so that it is safe.

Something to keep in mind is that sanitizing is not the same as cleaning or disinfecting something. While all three of these are connected, each one is different and should be approached differently. Here are the differences between these three:

Cleaning- Cleaning is when you remove dust, dirt, germs, etc from surfaces. This may mean brushing off crumbs, dusting, sweeping, and more. Cleaning can mean using soap and water to remove this debris, but this doesn’t kill the germ. Cleaning simply removes the germs and means that there are fewer that are able to spread infection.

Disinfecting- When you disinfect something, you are using chemicals to kill and remove germs on surfaces. This may mean using bleach or an alcohol solution designed to disinfect an area. Disinfecting may be a step above cleaning in that it actually kills the germs, but disinfecting does not necessarily mean that the dust, dirt, and germs are removed from the surface. They are simply killed and left there unless this action is also paired with cleaning, which is where sanitization comes in.

Sanitizing- Sanitizing is the act of both cleaning and disinfecting a surface to bring the number of germs down to a safe level. The definition of a safe level depends on how the sanitization is taking place. For example, restaurants are required to keep germs at an absolute minimum while other establishments may be able to get away with a bit less sanitization.

As you can see, it’s important to complete all steps of the above-mentioned process: cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing. Without all these steps, germs can continue to grow or will sit on a surface, dead but still there. You don’t want germs hanging around your home, even dead ones. That’s why you should think about having your home professionally sanitized. You can call Green Clean Restoration for all your sanitization needs. We promise to completely sanitize your home or the affected area.

Some areas of your home should be sanitized more often than others. These areas tend to collect germs and make spreading illness even easier. The areas of your home that should be sanitized most often are your kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. Chances are that these are the areas where you spend most of your time, allowing the bacteria to build up.

Sanitizing your kitchen:

It’s especially important to sanitize your kitchen because this is where you prepare food. Preparing food in a sanitized environment is critical because this food will then be shared with others. If the food is contaminated in any way, these germs, bacteria, or viruses will then pass between family members and may make everyone sick. You don’t want that, which is why it’s important to clean and disinfect your kitchen often. While cleaning and disinfecting surfaces is a great start, it’s a good idea to have your kitchen completely and professionally sanitized every so often. Ideally, you would have your kitchen fully sanitized every month.

Sanitizing your bathroom:

It’s safe to say that it’s pretty obvious why your bathrooms should often be sanitized. Many areas of your bathroom seem to act like magnets to germs, bacteria, and viruses, which is why it’s so important to have them sanitized. Bathroom areas that tend to collect a lot of germs include the toilet bowl, toilet flush handle, countertop, sink, and doorknobs. These areas should be cleaned and disinfected at least every few days and should be completely sanitized whenever possible. Many homeowners try to ignore what they know must be lurking under their very eyes in the bathroom. Don’t let this be you. Get your bathroom sanitized before the problem gets out of hand.

Sanitizing your bedroom:

A room that many homeowners overlook when sanitizing their homes is the bedroom. Many studies have found that the bedroom is the third highest room in the home for germ content, just after the bathroom and kitchen. Think about it. You spend almost a third of your life sleeping in your bed (that is, of course, if you have a normal sleep schedule, which, let’s be honest, you probably don’t). Beds are full of dust mites, pet dander, dust mite waste and eggs, and dead skin. Gross. This part, at least, is an easy fix. By washing your sheets every week, you can keep your bed mostly sanitized and bug-free. However, that doesn’t go for the rest of your bedroom. Your bedroom has a lot of high-touch surfaces, including door knobs, dressers, bedside tables, and more. When you touch these surfaces, you’re either leaving germs or picking them up. By sanitizing these surfaces regularly you can keep the germs to a minimum and rest easy in your room knowing that there aren’t nasty germs in the air.

Now that you know where to focus your sanitization efforts, don’t let anything stop you from ridding your home of germs and living in peace. Remember that this doesn’t mean you should ignore other areas of your home. You should still sanitize all parts of your home, but your kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom should be sanitized a little more often.

What you should and shouldn’t do when sanitizing your home:

There are several things you should and shouldn’t do when sanitizing your home. Here are some ideas to get you started.

You should:

  • Wear protective equipment
  • Use quality disinfectants
  • Follow the cleaning-disinfecting-sanitizing process

One of the most important things to remember when sanitizing your home is that you should always wear protective equipment. This means wearing gloves, a mask, goggles, and a protective jumpsuit when deeply sanitizing things. If you’re just sanitizing a little bit or you aren’t going all out, then simply wearing gloves should be fine. One of the reasons many homeowners choose to hire a professional sanitization company like Green Clean Restoration is because we know what we’re doing and we know how to minimize risk and properly protect ourselves against chemicals and fumes.

When sanitizing your home, you should always use quality disinfectants. There are lots of hacks out there that show you how to make your own cleaners and disinfectants. While some of these are good recipes, you should always be careful and research what you are doing before trying to make your own disinfectants. Disinfectants contain toxic chemicals, and if you mess up the ratio or use the wrong chemical, you could seriously damage not only your health but also the surfaces you’re cleaning.

You always want to follow this order when sanitizing your home: clean, disinfect, sanitize. Before disinfecting or sanitizing an area, make sure you clean it, removing all dust, crumbs, dirt, etc. You don’t want to disinfect an area that still has this stuff because then the disinfectant won’t be as effective and your surface will still be dirty.

You shouldn’t:

  • Use the same rag for every surface
  • Skip areas where you can’t see dirt or crumbs
  • Use the same disinfectant for every surface

You should never use the same rag you’ve already used to sanitize a bunch of other surfaces. Cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing a surface means that the germs are transferred to that rag, and even though they’re now dead, you don’t want to use that rag on other surfaces without cleaning it. You can either get a new rag, wash the used one out, or fold the rag over, using different parts of it until there are no new sides.

You should also never only sanitize where you can see the dirt, crumbs, dust, etc. The whole point of sanitizing your home is to get rid of germs. And germs are invisible! You need to sanitize every surface carefully, not only the surfaces where you see a mess or think may have gathered some germs. Germs are everywhere, so you need to sanitize them everywhere.

Another tip is to not use the same disinfectant for every surface. Don’t use a bathroom cleaner to clean your mirrors or your floor. Disinfectants and cleaners often have specific uses, such as glass cleaners. Only use glass cleaner on glass. It’s that simple. Pay attention to what kind of cleaner you’re using and switch cleaners when you start to sanitize another kind of surface.

While there are areas of your home that you can clean and sanitize yourself, sometimes it’s just best to call in the professionals. You should definitely hire someone to sanitize your home if you have dealt with mold, sickness, COVID-19, or damage.

If you live in or around Baltimore, Maryland, call Green Clean Restoration. We will sanitize your home thoroughly, professionally, and affordably. Don’t let germs control your life, sanitize your home!
